Try making your profile title catchy, using activities you're involved with to create your online name. They can be kind of silly, but that's okay. Your goal is to get a man's attention quickly. Between your smile, a great picture and a goofy or clever name, you've got a chance to stand out from everyone else and be noticed. Use proper spelling and grammar. One big pet peeves for many men is horrible spelling and grammar in profiles.

You can write your profile in Microsoft Word or other document programs so that it highlights any mistakes, and then cut and paste the paragraphs you've written to your profile online. Little things like typos can be enough to make men quickly move on to someone else's profile. Don't include these common faux pas. I want you to know that in my 40s, I made some of the dumbest mistakes when it came to profiles.

I wrote things about making love on a beach with my soul mate. What in the world was I thinking? It sounded romantic to me. Leave sex out of your profile. It gives men the wrong impression and encourages those you probably aren't interested in to write to you. Leave out the words, "I'm looking for my soul mate" from your profile.

Men have told me they see it in every woman's profile. Your goal is to look unique; not the same as everyone else. Don't brag. Particularly, don't brag about your out of this world looks. Men see what you look like but if you tell them in a bragging way, they'll think you're stuck up and move on. Don't make demands. Try not to make demands in your profile about salaries and how you'd like to be entertained at the most expensive restaurants in your area.

Even guys with money don't want a woman telling them where to go and what to do. They've had enough demands in their life including those put on them by ex-wives and families. They're not looking for a repeat of what they just left. Be true to who you are.

Otherwise it's like false advertising, which is hard to keep up. Don't try and pretend to be a certain way just to attract a Quality Man, when in reality, you are not that woman. You have no control over who he ultimately wants or is looking for. You only have control over what you want in a Quality Man. In fact, you do yourself a disservice pretending to be who you think a man wants. It actually sets you up for the wrong type of man to come into your life.

Plus, it starts the relationship off in a false way. Be your authentic self and convey that in your profile. End with a hook. End your profile with a sentence that asks a man to show you he is interested. For example, "If romance and passion appeal to you like they do to me, let me know.

Forget complete and total happiness; look for somebody who wants to meet you for a drink, and just see what happens. Indeed, there's a lot to be said for keeping things simple. But please note, simple doesn't have to mean dull.

The rules governing what's considered too slutty these days have come unraveled faster than Amy Winehouse on a six-pack of Red Bull. I have a coworker who swears she would not be the happily married woman she is today were it not for three magic words she tucked into her online profile: "horny and attentive. No, but that's because I have a tendency to be "cranky and oblivious.

Cousin Arleen wants to start a family. How do I know this? She mentions it in three different places on her profile. Say it once if you feel you must, but wait for an actual dinner date before whipping out the iPhone app that chirps when you're ovulating. Another coworker starts her very defensive profile with "Let's get this out of the way right now: I'm short, okay?! Lunch meat makes me wheeze uncontrollably and break into hives the size of Ping-Pong balls—but I probably wouldn't lead with this information.

The sister of my babysitter lets people know right off the bat that "the cats I cohabit with know I live only to serve them. What your cats actually know is that mice are a tasty treat, that there's nothing better than a long nap on a squishy cushion, and that Katherine Heigl doesn't make very good movies.

Of course, you can tell interested partners that you love animals, but unless you want to be stuck with a soul mate that hocks up fur balls, you've got to quit sabotaging yourself by announcing to any potential suitor that he will never take priority over Captain Fluffy Paws.

Next: Is your list of needs never-ending? Then the thing you need most is an editor. One of the women at my gym wants a nonsmoker with a sense of humor and a love of adventure. Fair enough. But she also wants a man who "is punctual, considerate, and into theater. She insists he be "blond, highly successful, and able to play an instrument. She feels strongly that he not "ride a motorcycle, be divorced, or own goldfish.

I am now 49; my gums are receding and it sounds like there's a dice game taking place in my left knee. Here's a good rule of thumb: If I have to check my watch twice as I study your never-ending list of needs, then the thing you need most is an editor. There's stuff we know we don't want—and that's certainly legitimate.

But here's how my neighbor presents her requirements: "If you're a closet freak, if you think choking me during intimacy is hot, if you live with your parents, if you're a flat-out jerk, don't waste my time.

I've got three kids and I don't need another. That said, I am not a bitch. Since when did autoerotic asphyxiation and jerky behavior get lumped in with living at your parents' place?

Sometimes parents get old and need a bit of help and sometimes unemployment reaches an all-time high—the world goes round, my friend. But by the sound of your profile, you already know that. You've obviously been burned and possibly choked , so go lie down while I attempt a rewrite: "I'm raising three great kids pretty much on my own, which means I've had to give serious thought to the kind of man I want to bring into my life.

It's not that complicated, really—I'm just looking for an enlightened grown-up who is interested in a solid relationship along with a good time. Major integrity and genuine kindness are essential. I know it sounds like a tall order, but if the prune can do it, so can you. First, always keep the end goal in mind. The goal is to find the perfect person FOR YOU. You need to keep this in mind when writing your dating profile because it should be what shapes the way you answer questions and present yourself.

Secondly, remember that there is no such thing as the perfect online dating profile. There is, however, the perfect dating profile FOR YOU. Seeing the theme here? The whole goal is to find the right person for you. We are going to help you make the perfect profile FOR YOU that helps you accomplish that goal. Oh, and yes, they all come with free trials when you click the links 🙂. So, what should you be aiming to do with your dating site headline?

This is a great spot to be witty, funny, inspirational or any other awesome descriptive word you can think of. Here are a few ideas of angles you can take to come up with the perfect headline FOR YOU. Remember, the headline has to be specific to you. This could be your header:. Using this as your headline accomplishes a few things.

In addition to comedy, you can go the angle of determined or hardworking. If you are someone who is a hustler or really gets after life, this might be a great spot to showcase your determination and drive with a quote. These are all great traits to showcase. You can also go the romantic route if you want. In reality, you can use any quote you want in your headline. Just make sure that you ask yourself what the quote is portraying and if that is the correct image you want to give off about yourself.

What this is showing is a simple and fool-proof formula to come up with a headline that will convert. By convert, we mean getting the right people to click through and read your profile. You start the headline off with who you are and then end with what you are looking for. You want to leave things a little mysterious. You want it to intrigue and get people to wonder more about you.

The second part should also be left a little mysterious so that people reading it can interpret it how they want. People have a big tendency to interpret things they read to be about themselves. Make sure that you are not selling yourself short in your headline. If you honestly have no redeeming qualities and are plain and boring, you may want to work on yourself a bit before you start dating online.

The part of the dating profile writing that everyone dreads the most is the fact that you have to write about yourself. Knowing how to describe yourself on a dating app is a tall task.

People will write their dating profile and spend the whole time talking about how much they hate writing about themselves and how awkward it is. WAYYYYYYY too many people talk about this on their profile, and it gets old to hear time and time again. Be different. Own the process. Be proud and write confidently and it will come across a lot better than you probably think that it does.

Get something down on paper and loaded up and come back to it later. Having ANYTHING up is better than a profile that has NOTHING up. Put up whatever you have now and then come back to it tomorrow and edit.
